Dear Members,<\/strong><\/p>\n

With 2017 drawing to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your support and loyalty to Post 79.<\/p>\n

Our mission has been a constant throughout the year, as in years past.<\/p>\n

Support our Veteran’s and their families, children, youth, community and Patriotism.<\/p>\n

None of this would have been possible without a formidable team, our members. Thank you.<\/p>\n

2018 promises to be a great year, and I wish you all a very healthy, happy and successful New Year.<\/p>\n

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!<\/p>\n

With a New Year beginning and we all anticipate the great things this year will bring however we are also aware that challenges will arise. By attending the monthly meetings, checking your newsletter and reading the board at the Post, you will know of the events happening and volunteering opportunities. Without everyone’s help and support, we would not be able to help our veterans, their families and our community.<\/p>\n

Have an idea of something you would like to see happen at the Post? Bring it to our next meeting on Monday, January 8th at 7:00p.m. so you can let others know and it can be discussed. We hope to see you there.<\/p>\n

Agent Orange – A Deadly Time Release Capsule<\/p>\n

If you served in the country of Vietnam, you may be eligible for disability compensation from the VA. Remember, the body keeps the score. Chemicals and other environmental factors may still lurk in one’s body and eventually reveal itself through one form of disease or another. Read the following 10 things about Agent Orange gleaned from a VA blog:<\/p>\n

  1. Agent Orange was a herbicide and defoliant used in Vietnam<\/li>\n
  2. Any Veteran who served anywhere in Vietnam during the war is presumed to have been exposed to Agent Orange. <\/li>\n
  3. VA has linked several diseases and health conditions to Agent Orange exposure. <\/li>\n
  4. Veterans who want to be considered for disability compensation must file a claim. <\/li>\n
  5. VA offers health care benefits for Veterans who may have been exposed to Agent Orange
    \nand other herbicides during military service. <\/li>\n
  6. Participating in an Agent Orange Registry health exam helps you, other Veterans and VA. <\/li>\n
  7. VA recognizes and offers support for the children of Veterans affected by Agent Orange who have birth defects. <\/li>\n
  8. Vietnam Veterans are not the only Veterans who may have been exposed to Agent Orange. <\/li>\n
  9. VA continues to conduct research on the long-term health effects of Agent Orange in order to better care for all Veterans. <\/li>\n
  10. VA contracts with an independent, non-governmental organization to review the scientific and medical information on the health effects of Agent Orange. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
